Kermit Moss

Kermit serves as one of our four Theologians in Residence at the Missing Voice Project, offering theological and practical insight to our Design Teams.

Rev. Kermit Moss is interim director of the Center for Black Church Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. In this capacity, Rev. Moss oversees the Black Church Studies certificate program, teaches the Black Church Studies Colloquium, and develops the Center’s seminars and conferences. He is currently a PhD student at Princeton Theological Seminary in area of practical theology in the field of Christian education and formation. He holds the Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and graduated summa cum laude from Long Island University Brooklyn, with a BA in political science.
Rev. Moss has participated in a two- year cohort of emerging scholars, pastors, and Christian leaders through Leadership Education at Duke Divinity and was selected by the Yale Center for Faith and Culture as a scholar-practitioner for a three-year collaborative research project on joy and youth flourishing.
He has served as senior pastor of churches in Manhattan and the South Bronx (NYC), co-pastored a church in Highland Park, NJ, and was on pastoral staff in New Jersey as well as Virginia. Rev. Moss currently serves as Senior Pastor of Christ Church United Methodist in Paterson, NJ.
He is married to Pastor Antoinette Gaboton-Moss who serves as Senior Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church (Highland Park, NJ). Kermit and Antoinette have three wonderful children: Kermit Jr., Sebastian, and Chloe.
